In the end, there can be only one.

Maria left this morning. Now the apartment is feels abandoned.

Last night we packed up all her things and watched some favorite episodes of Babylon 5 together one last time before she left for the airport this morning.

The sum was greater then the whole of its parts for our apartment for me. The dynamic was bizarre, wonderful, and crazy at times but I loved it. It's even more evident now without the cute little redheaded girl and the goofball workaholic around. It's like being homesick while at home. I miss you guys already.

Gah. I guess I'm next now...

On My Own - Eponine, Les Miserables

And now I'm all alone again,
Nowhere to turn, no one to go to.
Without a home, without a friend,
Without a face to say hello to.
And now the night is near,
Now I can make believe he's here.

Sometimes I walk alone at night
When everybody else is sleeping.
I think of him, and then I'm happy
With the company I'm keeping.
The city goes to bed,
And I can live inside my head.

On my own,
Pretending he's beside me.
All alone,
I walk with him till morning.
Without him,
I feel his arms around me,
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me.

In the rain,
The pavement shines like silver.
All the lights
Are misty in the river.
In the darkness,
The trees are full of starlight,
And all I see is him and me for ever and forever.

And I know
It's only in my mind,
That I'm talking to myself
And not to him.
And although I know that he is blind,
Still I say,
There's a way for us.

I love him,
But when the night is over,
He is gone,
The river's just a river.
Without him,
The world around me changes.
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers.

I love him,
But every day I'm learning,
All my life,
I've only been pretending!
Without me,
His world will go on turning,
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known!

I love him...
I love him...
I love him...
But only on my own...

I'm feeling all nostalgicky, and it's only been hours.

I don't like moving.

Ben's gone now.

I now have a big empty room in what will soon be a big empty apartment.

Teh suck.

It's been a pleasure Ben, a good two years. Have fun in Ohio... it at all possible.

I'm tyring to pack now. It's going but not so well. I have lots of crap. I mean... a lot of crap. More so then I thought. It's kind of a suprise you know? Then again, it has been two years. You can accumulate a lot of stuff in two years it seems. I shall have to keep this in mind for the future. Well, off to bed with me. I should get some sleep on the weekend since the week sucks so much (still) and I've also go the RPSM's recital tomorrow to get done as well.

Hrmm...

What's new?

World Cup I suppose. Was rootin' for the States along with Uncle Sam's Army but that didn't work out so well for us. Group E = Group of Death. On to the second round.

The Argonauts are shaky this year it seems. Okay, I know they beat Hamilton but they still don't look that strong. And Ricky isn't helping in my opinion. I hope they get their shit wired fast!

Andrew Raycroft is now a Maple Leaf. Seems like the Bruins are staying with the tradition of getting rid of players I like. Damn it all!

The Sox are still on top right now as well. Here's hoping it will stay that way!

And woah man did the Cannons stick it to Philly! Now they're only ahead of us through point differential. Who's unbeaten now punks! NOT YOU! 5 - 1. We're having a good year! w00t! Shame the Rev's have fallen to 3-4-6 now after tying Real Salt Lake... eeek...

Oh! Saw one of the teachers at the school play in her band today at the Toronto Roots Festival, and I kind of liked it. Sort of a cross between Eddie From Ohio and the Waifs, AND there was a song about two Vampires! I mean, how can you go wrong! I'm too tired for links right now. Maybe later I'll send you guys to the bands sight. It's Melanie De la Paix & the Delastocracies or something like that.

Adam had a gathering of peeps, Julia K. had a birthday party, and we all did a happy dance before following the dancing fuzzy bunnies down the rabbit whole of doom.

There's a chance I'll be getting Wedge some new internal organs too. Which would be cool, since... well he's getting old! Sucks when you can't play games that are running on almost two years old and your a geek like me. It's like being an artist without color. Or something.

Hiya!

Rather then let this go another week without posting, here's something interesting I got in the email;

From: cgill@bostoncannons.com
To: jae.rodgers@utoronto.ca

Jae,

We appreciate the long distance support. Rochester has great fans so
you'll need to be loud.

See you in August.

CG

Now all I have to do, is figure out if that was actually Conor Gill. Nice that it's not just an automated message. And that they actually CHECK the emails.

There was a party last weekend. Emily had a birthday. There has been a bad bad work week. There will be a big fancy dancy kegger (should keggers have dress codes? Just asking....) tomorrow night, I'm really tired, apparently I'm going both camping (again! I know! cool!) and Arizona this summer.

Also, the end of two jobs is only three months away. I can't wait for school to start again in the fall.

Congratulations to Alex for placing second in his 'A Game of Thrones' CCG tournament. It's a crying shame I'll be gunning for him all Saturday at paintball (it's his birthday after all).

All that stuff I've been meaning to post on is piling up.

It worked!

Okay, blogger is acting six kinds of wonky... so whether or not this makes it as a post is your guess...

It literally looks broken right now. And I've actually got stuff to say too!

First things first.

http://www.kstp.com/article/stories/S16799.html?cat=1 (I'm sketched that links won't work... it barely displayed the page.)

If this place 'Galactic Pizza' were in Toronto, they would earn my complete and utter devotion as being my exclusive provider of pizza. Yes, even over Papa Ceo's and Cora's. I'm that impressed. The man chased down a purse snatcher because the store is just like that. Doing things for the community, being superheros, delivering fresh baked pies with the power of the wind infused within them?

BRILLIANT

If they open a branch in Toronto or anywhere I'm currently living, I'll be the first to sign the petition to ge the Aquabats to play at the opening.

In other news. My soul almost revolted. There's was a small riot and battle lines drawn, but cooler heads prevaile on both sides and a negotion was reached across the bargaining table. I think things came to a point after I got two hours of sleep last night. That was a pretty good faculty meeting though. Go stuff done! AND drank champagne! Back to the point;

See, I looked at the schedule for the next two weeks at Starbucks. It's as follows;

Mon - 5:15
Tue - 5:15
Wed - 5:15
Thu - 5:15
Fri - 5:15

The rumblings of internal discontent began. That's just not cool yo. I know I only opened once this week, but I average more opens then anyone else in the store. And there's not even a close second. Five opens in one week. Damn. For those of you who don't know, this means my alarm will be set for 3:45 for all of these mornings.

That would be the time I'd normally want to go to bed not leave it.

But then the follow up, placed like the second half of the ol' one-two punch combo. The week following this is;

Mon - 5:15
Tue - 6:00
Wed - 5:15
Thu - 5:15
Fri - 5:15

And that's when my soul declared independance from Brain and Body and began it's brief attempt at seccession.

I will sleep when I get home from work on those days... or I don't think I'll hold it together.

I mean, I'm comparing my psyche to the demiliterized zone between North and South Korea! That can't be a good sign.

A LOT is happening this week. Visitors galore, graduations, and I'm working on Saturday. Birthdays, gatherings, and sports to be played! And sleep to fit in there... somewhere...

I also want someone else's opinion. I know I like to 'I drew this', but that's a webcomic so I thought I could get away with it. But I've tried to generally keep things as politically not offensive to either side. And by that I mostly mean the right. Around election time I let things go a bit but I haven't railed off on tangents about what I think is actually destroying, and I mean that in the way a lawnmower would destroy an infant kind of way, not just harming a little, the United States.

I love my country. So much that it hurts now to watch the news a lot. But I swore I wouldn't live there if Bush was reelected for another four year term because I didn't want to be there under that kind of torture. And because someone had to keep up relations north of the border.

And yes... I use a 'postal' as opposed to a 'zip' code right now.

But I'm just about fed up. Should I start railing? Linking to some other blogs and such who maybe share similar opinions?

With the current goings on in Congress over the Gay Marriage Ban Amendment, I decided to put up the following quote by one of my Senators to end the post;

"Look, either we're all drinking from the same water-fountain, or we're not."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy

EDIT: Maggie and Becca are here!
EDIT: Getting to Arizona is going ot be.... interesting this summer.

I am remiss!

I can't believe I forgot to mention this!

I blame it being 4:20am...

Okay, my Mom (the person from whom the proudly Canadian blood coursing through my veins originated) belongs to a newsletter that sends her nifty updates and such from the Canadian Ambassador to the U.S.

And look what she just forwarded to me;

Connect2Canada members,
You may have seen news reports indicating that the RCMP and Toronto-area police today arrested 17 individuals for terrorism offences under the Criminal Code. I am writing to you today to bring to your attention remarks made today by RCMP officials in Toronto, and by the Prime Minister in Ottawa. I encourage you to forward this information to your friends, colleagues and others who you think may be interested in this information.
Regards,
Ambassador Michael Wilson

Information regarding the arrest of terrorist suspects in TorontoRemarks by RCMP Assistant Commissioner Mike McDonell
3 June, 2006
Toronto
"After a lengthy investigation, the RCMP in cooperation with our partners, through our Integrated National Security Enforcement Team or INSET in Toronto, have arrested individuals who were planning to commit a series of terrorist attacks against solely Canadian targets in southern Ontario.
This group posed a real and serious threat. It had the capacity and intent to carry out these attacks. Our investigation and arrests prevented the assembly of any bombs and the attacks from being carried out. At all times, the primary focus of the investigation was the safety and protection of the public.
This has been and continues to be a complex and intensive investigation in which many partners have been involved. Over 400 highly- skilled resources have dedicated thousands of hours to diligently conduct this investigation, using legislative and investigative tools available to the law enforcement and intelligence community.
We must remain vigilant. Canada is susceptible to criminal terrorist activity as much as any other country. Reducing the threat of terrorism is one of the RCMP’s top priorities and as Canada’s National Police, we are collecting, sharing and analysing criminal intelligence with respect to entities and individuals that may pose a threat to national security, consistent with the laws of Canada and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
We are working closely with partners at all levels - municipal, provincial, federal and international - to ensure the safety and security of everyone. These arrests demonstrate the dedication and commitment of Canada’s resolve to root out terrorist threats and maintain the safety and security of our communities."

Address by Prime Minister Harper:
3 June, 2006
Ottawa
"Today, Canadians have learned that the RCMP and Toronto area police, with the help of CSIS and our intelligence community have arrested 17 individuals for terrorism offences under the Criminal Code. Their alleged target was Canada. Canadian institutions. The Canadian economy. The Canadian people. As at other times in our history, we are a target because of who we are. And how we live. Our society, our diversity, and our values. Values such as freedom, democracy and the rule of law. Values that make Canada great. Values that Canadians cherish. Values that citizens like you are willing to defend. I would like to commend the work of the RCMP, CSIS and local police authorities in conducting this operation. We will continue to support them by strengthening our laws, our policies and the resources dedicated to the fight against terrorism here and around the world. Today, Canada’s security and intelligence measures worked. Canada’s new Government will continue its efforts to
ensure the national security of all Canadians."

I had seen some blurb about this on the subway citypulse news ticker... but seventeen people? Good work CSIS, I hope you stop being hte but end of quite so many Canadians jokes... At least everyone respects the RCMP (especially those who've had them show up at their door).

If you enjoy a good story, I heartily recommend clicking that 'A Taste of Evil' link over to the right there. If you want to get involved in a discussion about Chivalry, click on 'Alicia'. To read one of the best webcomics about a gal-chick, starwars fan, and one of the coolest girls on the planet, click 'Mundane Nirvana'. Loserz is also hilarious, but not written by one of the coolest girls on the planet. Mundane Nirvana is. This exchange is proof enough. If it isn't, you are dead to me. Sorta. Maybe not. But maybe.

Two good bits of news. It's looking like I'll be able to go to Arizona this summer to see family, and I might also be able to afford to upgrade Wedge. w00t.

Goodnight then.

EDIT 6/4/06 1:47pm: Look what popped into my inbox this morning!

This picture was taken from the NY Times Article that clicking here will take you. I set it up in plain text for those of you who don't subscribe to the FREE (read: sign up now) NY Times email. Depressing stuff.

A toll is a toll and a roll is a roll...

A promise is a promise Maria, so here's my blogpost.

It shouldn't come to other people forcing me to post, but it did. That kind of saddens me.

:'(

See? Sad. Told you so!

So. What the hell have I been up to? Let's see. I was actually home last weekend. And by home I meant Wakefield. Got to see some people again (which was awesome), had a barbeque, relaxed, and got to go to the beach (thanks Courtney!) which reminded me just how much I missed the ocean. I stepped out of the car into that salt breeze and I was homesick while actually being at home. Which is frakkin' odd since I don't really ever feel homesick. Even when I was little and at summer camp for weeks at a time in Quebec. I also saw X3 and the DaVinci code (both of which were okay, not great but okay, which is a shame for X3 since 1 & 2 were both fantastic) while at home so there was that as well.

There's of course been my normal working stuff, not much of a suprise there I'm sure. I've also just about almost found myself a new place to live for next month. So cross your fingers people, and wish me luck! Ugh. I've started packing too. Bleh, not so much fun at all. Especially as per usual, my room is a crime scene.

Moving on to current events! Maria is going crazy right now because one of her friends girlfriends is jealous of her or something. I think there was some sort of thermo-nuclear explosion felt in the city when she found out that they(Maria and guy-friend) had gone to lunch together. Eeek! Even I'm not that jealous! I hope things work out because that last time I saw her this stressed out was over her Egyptian final, and those times do not evoke pleasant memories... for anyone.

I just got back from playing 'In the Groove', one of those DDR ripoffs, that Annex Submarine has in it (they're open to 4 or 5? Really? Cool!) with Julia. Not Jordan's Julia but (and now she isn't 'hers' persay, but... whatever you get the point) but Nicole's Julia. I was bored so I went for a walk down Bloor and she came. I dunnop, maybe it's because I'm probably moving out of the Annex in the next four weeks, but I'm getting all nostalgic for it again. I really like this neighborhood. Good place to live. Whoah man was that fun though. I really should get to it more often. I have so much fun! Anyone up for it?!?

I don't know what else I can put up tonight. I think I forgot to mention the BBQ over a Shaun's place, or maybe I didn't I don't remember...

Meh. My Fantasy Lacrosse team is getting it's rear end handed to it right now, I'm going to play baseball tomorrow at the Pits, and maybe spend about six hundred bucks.

I need to geek out I think. For such is the spice of my life. May the force be with you.

w00t.
